National Directorate of Security (NDS) personnel have arrested the killer of five Afghan National Army soldiers in eastern Kunar Province.

A statement issued by the NDS states that Zahirullah who goes by the name of Omar Bilal was arrested from the jurisdiction Manogi District in Kunar Province.

NDS statement adds that Zahirullah is a member of Qari Hamza group of the armed Taliban who had martyred five Afghan National Army soldiers.

NDS statement further adds that Zahirullah had recently stopped a civilian vehicle in which the soldiers were travelling and sprayed bullets on them.

A video that was recorded by the insurgents while martyring the soldiers was also recovered from Zahirullah by NDS personnel.

According to the statement, Zahirullah is currently in one of the captivity of NDS awaiting the decision of the judiciary departments.

NDS statements usually do not contain the exact date and location of the incident but their statements are issued about recent achievements.

Taliban insurgents in different parts of the country occasionally establish checkpoints to find soldiers and other government officials and abduct them.

Hundreds, possibly thousands of soldiers and other government officials have been martyred this way by the Taliban insurgents after the fall of their government in 2001.
